Hyundai Launches All New Elantra 2016 In India: Specifications, Pricing And More

In an event in New Delhi, Hyundai India has launched the company’s latest and much awaited luxury sedan – Hyundai All New Elantra 2016 at a starting price tag of Rs. 12.99 Lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It comes in five colour options – Marina Blue, Polar White, Sleek Silver, Phantom Black, Red Passion and there are 9 variants – S, SX, SX AT, SX(O), SX(O) AT, in both petrol & diesel options. The starting variant of All New Elantra costs Rs. 12.99 lakhs while the high-end variant costs Rs. 19.9 lakhs. The Hyundai India also announced that, the prices of All New Elantra are introductory and will stay in effect till December 2016. All the prices will remain valid till December 2016. At such a price tag, the All New Elantra will compete with Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze and few more.

Speaking at the launch of The All New Elantra, Mr. Y K Koo, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited said:

In the pursuit to achieve world’s best technology, the All New Elantra is the culmination of 26 years of continuous and dedicated research by Hyundai Motor. Currently in its 6th Generation, the All New Elantra builds upon the momentum and success of its award-winning history with strong value proposition. The advanced safety, bold aerodynamic design and class above features make it a complete driving experience Redefining The Prestige in its class.”

The All New Elantra sports Hyundai’s Fluidic 2.0 design language and at the launch event it is said that, the All New Elantra has better design & style, when compared with old generation model. The All New Elantra is made up of 53 percent Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) which allows higher structural rigidity and improves both driving comfort & handling. Apart from this, the All New Elantra is 20mm longer and 25mm wider when compared with the old generation model. In terms of dimensions, the All New Elantra is 4,610mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,450mm in height and gets a wheelbase of 2,700mm.

The biggest change you’ll find in the All New Elantra is that, it’s a complete makeover from its predecessor. The exterior gets a massive angular front grille with chrome accents, styled headlamps and boomerang shaped daytime running lights. The side profile too sports strong lines give a sporty stance and a new designed tall lamps. Talking about the interiors, the car comes with plush leather upholstery and a host of other features like 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with USB, AUX-In, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), dual-zone climate control, drive mode select, hands-free smart trunk, auto cruise control, keyless entry with smart key, armrest for both front & rear seats and electric seats with ventilation for the front. In terms of electronics, the car comes with reverse parking camera with sensors, ESC, Vehicle stability management, Hill Start Assist and Dual airbags with ABS and EBD for safety. The top variant will have 6 airbags.

The All New Elantra will be available in two engine options – 2.0 litre petrol and a 1.6-litre VGT CRDI diesel engine. Transmission options for both the engines includes a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic unit. The petrol engine delivers 152 PS of power & 192Nm of torque while the diesel engine delivers a power of 128 PS & 260 Nm of torque. The efficiency claimed by Hyundai is around 15 Km/L for petrol and 22.5 Km/L for diesel with Manual transmission and 18 Km/L with automatic transmission. For your information, the petrol trim gets the auto box in both SX and SX (O) variants while the diesel trim gets in SX (O) variant.
