The German luxury car manufacturer Audi has expanded its India line-up with the launch of three new models – A5 Sportback, A5 Cabriolet, and S5 Sportback at a price tag of Rs. 54.02 lakh, Rs 67.15 lakh and Rs 70.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The company will start accepting bookings starting from Thursday while the deliveries will be commenced from Thursday too. The Audi A5 Sportback will compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series, and Volvo S60. The A5 Cabriolet will compete with Mercedes C43 AMG, BMW 5-series, and Volvo S60 while the Audi S5 will compete with Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG, Volvo S60 Polestar.
The Audi A5 Sportback is built on the VW Group’s MLB platform and it sits between Audi A4 & Audi A6 model line up. The Audi A5 Sportback gets 4-door coupe body style making it much cooler proposition when compared with regular 4-door sedan body style. The slopping roofline with the sturdy boot and short overhangs gives it a very sporty stance and the doors are pillars less. The entire A5 series has a very striking design that immediately grabs your attention, and it is primarily targeted towards buyers of younger age group.
Inside the cabin, the Audi A5 family comes with features like connected AC vents which run across the dashboard, large sunroof, all-digital Audi Virtual Cockpit Instrument cluster, open-pore back wooden inserts around the cabin, MMI Touch infotainment system, Audi’s smartphone integration suite with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 755W Bang and Olufsen sound system.
The Audi A5 Sportback and the Audi A5 Cabriolet is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 190 PS of peak power and churns out 400Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed Tiptronic gearbox and it reaches to 0-100kmph in just 7.9 seconds & goes all the way up to top speed of 235kmph. The Audi A5 Sportback does not get Quattro all-wheel-drive system and it comes only with the front wheel drive setup whereas the Audi A5 Cabriolet gets Quattro all-wheel-drive that reaches to 0-100kmph in just 7.8 seconds and goes all the way up to top speed of 235 kmph.
The Audi S5 Sportback is powered by turbocharged 3.0-litre petrol V6 engine that produces 354PS of peak power and 500Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to 8-speed Tiptronic transmission and it gets the Audi Quattro all-wheel-drive setup which means the power is sent to all the four wheels & it reaches to 0-100kmph in just 4.7 seconds and goes all the way up to top speed of 250kmph.
