At the Auto Expo 2016, Maruti Suzuki India has unveiled the company’s latest compact SUV – Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in India. It is the Maruti’s first ever sub-4 meter compact SUV and will be launched & goes on sale later this year. The expected price range is of Rs. 7 lakh – 10 lakh (Ex-showroom) and will be sold through regular Maruti dealerships.

“Vitara Brezza is true to its category of a compact urban SUV. It is muscular, bold and sporty, with a distinct presence. It offers style and glamour, and features and customisation never seen before in SUVs in India.”
He added:
“Built on a global Suzuki platform, Vitara Brezza has been conceptualized, designed and developed in India using Suzuki’s global development processes. We believe this model appeals to Indian customers in its design, packaging and features. Vitara Brezza is Maruti Suzuki’s symbol of Create in India.”
The best thing about Vitara Brezza is that, it the first product from Maruti that has been entirely developed in India by it’s in-house R&D team. The vehicle designed and developed within three & half years and the development costs is Rs. 860 crores with a localisation level of 98%. Initially, the Vitara Brezza will be available in 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine only and it borrows the engine from existing Swift hatchback. It offers an estimated average of 23Kmpl – 25Kmpl.
The Vitara Brezza comes in six trim levels – LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi and ZDi+ and all of them powered by a 1.3-litre, 89bhp, diesel engine. This powertrain has been borrowed from the Ciaz. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual gearbox. The higher trim (ZDi) comes loaded with Smartplay infotainment with Apple CarPlay, inbuilt navigation with Mapcare, reverse parking camera and cruise control with steering mounted controls. While the base variant Ldi comes with Bluetooth-enabled audio system, speed sensitive door locks and driver airbag protection along with an additional SUV body-kit, the optional and higher variants get passenger airbag and ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution).
The Vitara Brezza has balanced proportion and high ground clearance and features upright hood, square wheel arches, high shoulder line, short overhands & bold stances, all these chance the exterior appeal. The front-fascia comes with a projector headlamps with a secondary halogen unit & LED daytime running lights, signature ‘S’ badge, stylish body-coloured bumper and a retro-styled honeycomb air dam. The car’s side profile looks very sporty with high shoulder line, bold creases and alloy wheels with dual finishing and 5-spoke, 16-inch tubeless tyres. Other styling elements include floating C-pillars, sharply raking windscreen, short overhangs etc. In terms of dimensions, the Maruti Vitara Brezza measures 3,995mm in length, 1790mm in width and 1640mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 198mm. This compact SUV comes with a seating capacity of five passengers and offers a boot space of 378-litres.
