Four Wheeler October 2016 Sales Figure: Hyundai, Nissan India Registers Growth

The Automobile sales expected to grow in the month of October 2016 because of festive season. The sales figure of October 2016 brings cheer to most car manufacturers. The Nissan Motor India has seen a sales growth of 88 per cent while Tata Motors has register a 28 per cent jump in sales. Below you can find the sales numbers from four-wheeler manufacturers in India for the month of October 2016.

Ford India:

The company sale figure in the domestic passenger vehicle for the month of October 2016 declined by 25 percent. The Ford India sold 7,508 vehicles in October 2016 compared to 10,008 vehicles last year October 2015. In terms of export, the Ford India exported 14,535 vehicles compared to 10,412 vehicles in October 2015. For your information, in the month of August 2016, Ford India slashed the prices of the Figo and Aspire by Rs. 50,000 & Rs. 91,000 respectively.

Commenting on the October sales Anurag Mehrotra, Executive Director, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India said:

“The company is committed to its strategy of product led innovation and breaking the myth related to the cost of ownership.”

Hyundai Motor India:

In the month of October 2016, the Hyundai Motor India registered highest ever domestic sales. The company registers a growth of 6.4 percent by selling 50,016 vehicles in October 2016 compared to 47,015 vehicles sold in October 2015. In terms of export, the Hyundai Motor exported 14,356 vehicles in October 2016 compared to 14,686 vehicles in October 2015.

Commenting on the October sales Mr. Y K Koo, MD & CEO Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said:

“Hyundai with a highest-ever domestic volume of 50,016 units registered record cumulative sales of 64,372 units in October 2016. Hyundai achieved the highest and fastest domestic sales of 50,000 units mark within 15 months from the earlier milestone of 40,000 units.”

Adding further,

“The recently launched All New Elantra, received an overwhelming response with 1,509 bookings resulting in 4-5 months waiting period, we thank our customers for showing confidence in Brand Hyundai.”

Mahindra and Mahindra:

In the month of October 2016, in the passenger vehicle segment, Mahindra and Mahindra registered a growth of 3 percent by selling 24,737 vehicles compared to 24,060 vehicles sold in October 2015. The company announced that, there is a 28 percent growth in exports with 3,279 vehicles exported in October 2016 compared to 2,568 vehicles in October 2015.

Commenting on the auto sales performance for October 2016, Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), M&M Ltd. said:

“The festive season has brought about some cheer for the automotive industry with improved sentiments, on the back of a near normal monsoon, rural surge in demand and some new vehicle launches. Some of our power brands such as the Bolero, Scorpio, TUV300 and the Pickups have performed well. At Mahindra we are happy to achieve a 28% growth in our exports. We have expanded our electric vehicle portfolio (zero emissions) over the last one month by adding the eSupro range and the e2oPlus. We have a cumulative growth of 12% in UV, 19% in Exports and a 9% overall growth and hope to see the growth momentum continue for the remaining part of the year.”

Nissan Motor India:

In the month of October 2016, in the passenger segment, the company sold 6,108 vehicles registering a growth of 88 percent compared to 3,246 vehicle sold in October 2015.

Commenting on the auto sales of October 2016, Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said:

“Our solid performance and overall growth of 88 percent in October has been possible with the continued robust performance of the Datsun Redigo and the tremendous response to the recently launched Redigo Sport version.”

Tata Motors:

In the month of October 2016, in the passenger segment, the company sold 16,311 vehicle by registering a growth of 28 percent compared to 12,747 vehicle sold in October 2015. According to a press note, Tata Motors said that, the increase in sales is due to the strong demand for the Tata Tiago. The company announced that, there is a 39% growth in exports with 6,333 vehicles exported compared to 4,569 vehicles in October 2015.

According to Mayank Pareek, president, Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors:

“We have recorded the highest sales in the past four years with a growth of 28% in October 2016. While we have been growing month-on-month, the festive season has further ushered in strong growth impetus for us. The Tiago continued to receive a strong response and the Tata Zest retails were the highest ever since launch, during this festive season. All our other products also saw increased traction in the market. Also, we secured the second highest score in the J D Power 2016 Syndicate Customer Service Index Study, which is the highest increase in score in the industry, this year. We are also receiving encouraging feedback on the Tata Hexa and are gearing up for the launch in January 2017. We remain committed to offering our customers an exciting product and service experience with best-in-class purchase and aftersales service across our dealerships. These achievements are a proof of our consistently focused efforts towards achieving our vision to be among the top three in the domestic passenger vehicle market by FY2019.”

Volkswagen India:

In the month of October 2016, the Volkswagen India sold 5,534 vehicles in October 2016 registering a growth of 70 percent compared to 3,255 vehicles sold in October 2015.

Mr. Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said:

“We welcomed the festive cheer with the launch of Volkswagen’s made-for-India and made-in-India Ameo Diesel, expanding our product portfolio to a wider audience. With our recent launches, we are well on course to give customers even more reasons to visit the Volkswagen showrooms. We are confident in continuing to improve our performance in sales and service, in the coming months along with exciting new products on the anvil.”

Maruti Suzuki India:

In the month of October 2016, Maruti Suzuki India sold 1,23,764 vehicles registering a growth of 2.2% compared to 1,21,063 vehicle sold in October 2015. When it comes to export, the company exported 10,029 vehicles registering a decline of 23.7 percent compared to 13,146 vehicle in October 2015.

Honda Car India:

In the month of October 2016, Honda Car India sold 15,567 vehicles registering a decline of 23% compared to 20,166 vehicle sold in October 2015.

Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd., said:

“Our enquiry levels have seen a significant increase since the beginning of this festival season and we are looking forward to continuing good sales momentum through Oct’16. We are offering a lot of exciting promotions on our cars to make this festive season more attractive and rewarding for our customers.”

Toyota Kirloskar:

In the month of October 2016, the company sold 11,651 vehicle registering a decline of 6.06% compared to 12,403 vehicle sold in October 2015.

Commenting on the monthly sales, N Raja, director and senior VP (Sales & Marketing) said:

“Sale in the festive months of September and October put together has helped us clear most of our inventory in the plant as well as at our dealerships. We have seen a huge pull from the market in the last two months, especially for the Innova Crysta which has been doing phenomenally well ever since its launch in May 2016.”

Renault India:

In the month of October 2016, the French carmaker sold 12,409 vehicles by registering a growth of 67.8% compared to 7,396 vehicles sold in October 2015.
