Harley Davidson has launched the company’s latest bikes in its 2017 model line-up for India. The new additions for this year are – Harley Davidson Roadster and the Harley Davidson Road Glide Special at a price tag of Rs. 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs. 32.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. All the 13 bikes of the 2017 model including Harley-Davidson comes with ABS as standard and other minor cosmetic upgrades. Both the new motorcycles will be available for purchase towards the end of this month.
The Harley-Davidson Roadster is powered by the V-Twim 1,200cc Evolution air-cooled engine and it produces a peak torque of 96Nm@4,000rpm. it gets 4-inch digital instrumentation which shows the speed, RPMs, time, trip meter, gear indicator and the other tell-tale lights. The motorcycle will be assembled at Harley-Davidson’s plant in Bawal, Haryana.
The Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special is powered by all-new Milwaukee Eight 107 Single Cam V-twin 1,745 cc engine which produces a peak torque of 150Nm@3,250rpm. It also gets a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a BOOM 6.5 GT audio system along with adjustable rear suspension.
Harley-Davidson’s Touring Range, which consists of the Road King, Street Glide Special and the Road Glide Special are powered by all-new Milwaukee Eight engines. The “Eight” represents the eight-valve set-up (four valves per cylinder) features in this engine. The engines are said to offer 10 percent more torque and better heat management thanks to a redesigned exhaust system. The Milwaukee-Eight 107, which is an oil-cooled 1,7455 engine, will power the Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special, the Road Glide Special and the Road King models. The twin-cooled Milwaukee-Eight 114, which is a liquid-cooled 1,870cc engine, powers the CVO Limited.
According to Harley-Davidson, all the motorcycles in its 2017 touring line-up will get new front and rear suspension. The new emulsion-technology rear shock absorbers provide 15 to 30 per cent more pre-load adjustment when compared to the previous standard. The front suspension will get new Showa SDBV suspension technology which provides “linear damping characteristics and reduced weight”.
