All New Hyundai Tucson 2016 Launched In India: Specifications, Features, Pricing And More

Hyundai Motor India has launched the company’s latest SUV -“The All New Tucson – Born Dynamic” in India at a starring price tag of Rs. 18,99,000. it comes in five colours – Pure White, Phantom Black, Wine Red, Sleek Silver and Sand Dust. It is available in 5 variants – two in petrol and three in diesel, comes in manual and automatic modes. Originally, the All New Tucson was showcased at Auto Expo 2016. For your information, this is the third generation Tucson that is launched in India and it is positioned between the Hyundai Creata and the Hyundai Santa Fe. The car will be offered in three trim levels – 2WD MT, 2WD AT GL, and 2WD AT GLS. The All New Tucson comes with an optional Hyundai Premium Assurance Programme which gives 3-year/unlimited kilometres warranty, 3-year roadside assistance and three times customer ‘Home Visits’. At such a price tag, the All New Tucson compete with Honda CR-V, Skoda Yeti, SsangYong Rexton and few others.

All New Hyundai Tucson

The All New Hyundai Tucson is built on the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, same as seen on All New Elantra 2016. On the front, the car features Hyundai signature front grille with Chrome slats flanked by sharp projector headlamps. Similar to what we have seen in the all new Elantra, the All New Tucson comes with the bumper which is well-sculpted and houses a pair of stylish horizontal LED fog lamps & LED daytime running lights below them. If you look from the side & rear, the All New Tucson largely resemble with Santa Fe. The SUV comes with sporty alloy wheels with a wheelbase of 2,670mm (17-inch for the manual trim and 18-inch for automatic), ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights, roof rails and smooth character lines running along the sides. It also comes with very prominent underbody plastic cladding and silver side skirts. At the rear, you found sharp wrap around LED tail lamps, rear windshield wiper, large well-sculpted tailgate with the company logo at the centre, and a plastic cladded rear bumper with dual chrome-tipped exhaust pipes. It boasts a length of 4,475mm, width of 1,850mm and height of 1,660mm.

The All New Hyundai Tucson cabin features dual-tone black & gets a treatment with fabric upholstery on the base trim and leather upholstery for the higher trims. There is a well-laid-out dashboard which comes with a multifunctional steering wheel and the feature list includes – dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, 10-way power adjustable driver seat and keyless entry. Standard convenience features available across all trim levels include automatic headlamps, puddle lamps and cruise control, while the top-end variants gets powered tailgate with height adjustment and electric parking brake.The All New Hyundai Tucson comes with Drive Mode Select feature, which allows the driver to opt from three available modes – Normal, Sport and Eco. In addition to this, the Tucson gets an Aerodynamic Design and offers a Silent Cabin.

In the all new Tucson, there is a 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has Navigation, Voice Recognition feature and supports inputs from Bluetooth, USB and AUX. It is connected to 4 speakers and 2 tweeters.

The all new Tucson is powered by 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The four-cylinder dual VTVT petrol engine has 1,999 cc capacity which produces a maximum power of 155bhp at 6,200 rpm and a peak torque of 192 Nm at 4,000 rpm. On the other hand, the diesel engine is a four-cylinder CRDI engine which has a capacity of 1,995 cc and it produces a maximum power of 185bhp at 4,000 rpm and develops a peak torque of 400Nm at 1,750 – 2,750 rpm. Both engines available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Hyundai claims that the petrol variant has a fuel efficiency of 13.03 km/l in the manual trim and 12.95 km/l in the automatic version. The diesel variant is said to offer 18.42km/l in the manual and16.38km/l in the automatic trim. All variants come only with a 2-wheel-drive (2WD), while the 4WD will come next year.

The all new Tucson comes with safety features like dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard across variants, while the higher variants get side and curtain airbags. Other safety features include electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM), hill-start assist control (HAC), downhill brake control (DBC), brake assist, rear parking camera dynamic guidelines and rear and front parking sensors. The Hyundai Tucson has been awarded a 5-star Euro NCAP rating with respect to safety, the highest in its class.
