[Auto Expo 2016] Yamaha Launches MT-09 For Rs. 10,20,000 In India

At Auto Expo 2016, Yamaha India has launched the company’s latest flagship Superbike in the MT Series – Yamaha MT-09 in India at a price tag of Rs. 10,20,000 (Ex-Showroom in Delhi). It comes in Race Blue and Matt Grey colour and will be available starting February 2016. at selected dealers across the country. With Yamaha MT-09, the company will strengthen its super bike segment in the Indian market.

Commenting on the launch, Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd., said:

“We are very excited to introduce the MT-09 to the Indian market after its successful run globally. This launch will reiterate our commitment to offer bikers in India the very best mix of Yamaha’s technological expertise coupled with style and performance. The MT-09 is essentially targeted at expertise coupled with style & performance.” The MT-09 is essentially targeted at the youth who are looking for thrill in their daily rides with great fuel efficiency.”

Adding further,

“The new year has got off to a great start for us as we launch our latest product this year after the successful unveil of the Cygnus Ray – ZR yesterday. India is a very crucial market for us and it has been our constant endeavour to offer world class products to our customers here and these two additions bear testimony to out efforts.”

The all new Yamaha MT-09 mounts a newly developed 847cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line triple-cylinder, fuel-injected engine with ABS technology. Yamaha MT-09 is targeted towards the youth who are looking for excitement, power and style. Main features include 1) Strong yet light 2) Compact engine 3) Long suspension stroke for excellent road holding in all road conditions 4) Equipped with ABS technology 5) Fuel efficiency (19 KM/L). With minimalistic design frills this bike is aimed at providing an exciting riding experience accompanied with high-performance and great economy. It aims to achieve an excellent balance of both high-performance and fuel efficiency.

According to a press note, this model will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) by India Yamaha Motor IYM.

For your information, the year 2015 is highly successful year for Yamaha as it witnessed a 5% growth rate despite of a sluggish market. This can be attributed to the company’s innovative ongoing customer-centric activities and exciting product line up including Yamaha Saluto, Fascino and YZF-R3 which continued to strengthen their position with great sale numbers across the country. In the domestic market, the company sold 5.94 lakh units in 2015 and aims to sell 8 lakh units in 2016.
