Audi has launched the diesel version of their most popular new generation A4 in India at a starting price tag of Rs. 40.2 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The diesel version will join the petrol version of the new generation Audi A4 that was launched back in September 2016. The bookings of the new generation Audi A4 Diesel are now open. Like the petrol version of Audi A4, the diesel version of Audi A4 comes with same set features & styling. In India, at such a price tag, the new generation Audi A4 Diesel will compete with Mercedes-Benz C 220d, BMW 320d, Volvo S60.
When compared with the last generation of Audi A4 diesel, the new generation Audi A4 diesel comes with upgraded engine & gearbox and offers better driving experience. The new generation Audi A4 35 TDI is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 190 horsepower and 400Nm of peak torque and mated to a redesigned 7-speed S Tronic transmission. When compared with its predecessor, the new generation Audi A4 diesel deliver 7 percent improvement in power & fuel efficiency. The new generation Audi A4 Diesel 35 TDI is based on VW’s module MLB platform and it is 120kg lighter than its predecessor. As a result of this, the new Audi A4 diesel is capable of going from 0-100km/h in a claimed 7.7 seconds. Audi claims that the new generation Audi A4 diesel returns an ARAI certified mileage of 18.25km/l. The top speed of new generation Audi A4 is 237kmph.
Talking about exterior and interior, the new generation Audi A4 diesel is identical to the petrol variant and comes with LED headlamps, rear dynamic turn indicators, 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit with two display, MMI Navigation Plus, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, wireless charging, 180 watt Audi 10 speaker sound system and much more. The new generation Audi A4 diesel runs on 17-inch Tornado design alloy wheels and comes with four driving options – Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Individual.
