Skoda India has introduced the Monte Carlo edition of the Rapid sedan in India at a starting price tag of Rs. 10.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Monte Carlo Edition will be available in two select dual-colour options – Flash Red with black roof and Candy White with black roof and bookings already started. For your information, globally the Monte Carlo trim available with the Citing, Rapid and the Fabia but this is the first time that Skoda introduced this special edition package in India.
The new Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition comes with cosmetic additions like stylish black treatment on the front grille, headlamp inserts, body accents, ORVms, and the tail lamp cluster along with new dual tone 16-inch alloy wheels and the rear black grained diffuser enhances the car’s sporty character. Other standout features of the car are cruise control, automatic wipers, auto dimming mirror, climate control, rear AC vents, rear parking sensors, reversing camera and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options. The Monte Carlo boasts of a 460L boot space and other intelligent storage solutions with bottle holders in the doors, storage compartment under front Centre armrest and cup holders in front as well as the rear.
The cabin comes with 3-spoke super sports flat bottom steering wheel covered in black perforated leather and red decorating stitching. The gearstick knob also comes in black leather with red, decorative stitching. The driver and passengers sit on special sporty Monte Carlo leatherette seats in black/red design with grey vertical stripes. The front door sill bears the Monte Carlo lettering and the black floor mats feature black decorative stitching. The ribbed stainless steel pedals and sporty graphic instrument cluster further add to the overall sporty experience.
The new Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition comes in both – petrol and diesel engine. The car is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine that churns out 110PS of maximum power and produces 153Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine is paired with either 5-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic. The diesel variant is powered by 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine that churns out 105PS of maximum power and produces 250Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is paired with either 5-speed manual transmission or 7-speed dual clutch (DSG) automatic. The petrol engine delivers fuel efficiency of 15.4kmpl with the manual transmission and 14.8kmpl with the automatic while the diesel engine delivers 21.1kmpl with the manual transmission & 21.7kmpl with the automatic.
The new Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition comes with safety features like dual airbags, ABS, daytime running lights, five three-point seat belts, Parktronic rear parking sensors, central locking system with remote control, electronic stability, and hill hold assist among others. Other safety features include – rain sensing wiper system, cooled glove box, cruise control and more.
