Audi India has launched the brand new 2016 Audi A4 with a 1.4 petrol engine at a price tag Rs. 38.10 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi & Maharashtra) for the base variant while the top-end model costs Rs. 41.20 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi & Maharashtra). The all-new Audi A4 is bigger and more comfortable when compared with the previous model and offers a lot more technology & performance. With this launch, the German manufacturer is looking to strengthen its position in the luxury sedan segment in India. At such a price tag, it will compete with Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 series, Jaguar XE, Jaguar XF and the Volvo S60. Just to mention that, the competitor cars are more powerful than the 1.4-litre Audi A4.

As many of you are aware that, Audi A4 is one of the best selling cars in Audi’s lineup in India. The all-new Audi A4 comes with a new-design language, enhanced feature list and becomes a lot more smarter then ever before. The updated design made the all-new Audi A4 to look more sharper than before and it gets a sleeker headlight similar to that of Audi TT. The LED detailing inside the headlight also redesigned, which makes the overall design to look crisper than before. Although, it doesn’t sport a hexagonal radiator grille which we saw in the company’s flagship SUV, the Audi Q7. The side profile looks more similar to the previous version. Also, the rear gets a new light design with updated LED elements. According to Audi India, the new 2016 Audi A4 is the most aerodynamic A4 ever built.
The all-new Audi A4 is based on the MLB platform which makes it lighter by 95kg when compared to previous offering. In addition to this, the new MLB platform increases the wheelbase by 12mm which now measures 2,820mm. Dimensionally, the all-new Audi A4 is 25mm longer and 16mm wider when compared with the previous generation model while the height remains the same.
Talking about interiors, the all-new Audi A4 feels more modern as the cabin gets a new infotainment screen or the Audi MMI (multimedia interface) which sits on the central console. The leather-draped multi-function staring wheel gets aluminium bits. The leather seats and the new wooden inlays ehances the luxury of the cabin. The AC vent also redesigned and now it run across the width of the dashboard, splitting the dash in two parts. One of the most important changes you will see, is that the all-new Audi A4 gets a virtual cockpit which is a fully digital instrument cluster as seen on new Audi R8 & the Audi TT. The digital screen allows you to choose the information displayed according to your preference like regular vehicle information, shows navigation as well as read-outs for speed & engine revs. As the car is larger in size which means it is more leg space for rear passengers and the knee-room is ample and so is the headroom.
The all-new Audi A4 is powered by 30 TFSI 1.4-litre four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which churns out 150PS of power from 5,000-6,000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1,500-3,500rpm. The all-new Audi A4 makes 20PS less power and 70Nm less torque when compared to previous model. The 1.4-litre engine is mated to a new 7-speed DSG gearbox which is tuned for fuel efficiency. According to Audi India claims, the all-new Audi A4 delivers a fuel efficiency of 17.8kmpl, which is 2.2kmpl more than when compared to the previous model. The all-new Audi A4 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.5 seconds with top speed of 210 km/h. It is expected that, the company will launch the 2.0-litre diesel model in next few months.
Overall, the all-new Audi A4 is a great package when compared to it’s rivals.
