Bajaj Auto has launched the company’s latest Sports motorcycle – Bajaj Dominar 400 in India at a starting price tag of Rs. 1,36,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Bajaj Dominar 400 come in three colours – Midnight Blue, Twilight Plum & Moon White and it will be initially sold via 80 showrooms across 22 town in the country. The Bajaj Dominar 400 comes in two variant – the disc-brake variant cost Rs. 1,36,000 while the ABS variant cost Rs. 1,50,000. The bookings of the Dominar 400 is already started by paying Rs. 9,000 online and the test rides & deliveries will happen at the dealerships. At such a price tag, the Bajaj Dominar 400 competes with Royal Enfield Classic 350.
Talking about the compettiton, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto said:
“People can ride the Bullet and if they want to go faster than the Bullet, they can ride the Dominar.”
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by 373.2cc DTS-i single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine which produces 34.5bhp at 8000rpm and 35Nm of torque at 8500rpm and it is paired with 6-speed gearbox. It also gets a slipper clutch, the first for any Bajaj bikes. Top speed is claimed to be 148kmph and 0-100kmph time is listed as 8.23 seconds. The Dominar 400 comes with 43mm telescopic front forks with a unique dual spring monoshock rear suspension, while braking performance comes from 320 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brakes. The bike also gets dual-channel ABS.
In terms of styling, the Bajaj Dominar 400 retains the muscular and aggressive lines from earlier Bajaj Bikes. The design is attention seeking and mixes a sports bike style with the stance of a cruiser. Furthermore, you get full LED mosaic headlamps with balanced white light and vertical Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) function as standard. According to Bajaj, the ergonomics were designed for a comfortable, easy to use, and touring is clearly on the agenda. The footpegs are placed roughly under the knees and the handlebars look upright and wide.
The Dominar 400 will also be exported to international markets including Europe, Malaysia, Philippines, Dubai among others, while deliveries in India will start from January 2017.
