The Tata Motors India has launched the company’s latest car in the sub-four meter segment – Tata TIGOR at a starting price tag of Rs. 4.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Tata TIGOR is based on the Tata’s popular hatchback Tiago and the company calls TIGOR a Styleback. The Tata TIGOR comes four variants – XE, XT, XZ, and XYZ (O) with six colour options and both the diesel & petrol engine options available. The prices for the Tata TIGOR petrol variant starts at Rs. 4.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant while the top end variant cost Rs. 6.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The prices of the Tata TIGOR diesel variant starts at Rs. 5.60 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant while the top end variant cost Rs. 7.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The pre bookings of the Tata TIGOR already started last week at a price tag of Rs. 5,000.
On the inside, the Tata TIGOR is well designed and comes with good quality plastics & fabrics. The sedan comes with a touchscreen console with mirror link capabilities but does not get Apple CarPlay or Android auto. Talking about the top end variant, the Tata TIGOR comes with color coded AC vents just like Tata TIAGO. The rear seating area is spacious and the rear seat also gets a fold down hand rest but no rear AC vents.
The Tata TIGOR comes in 15-inch diamond alloy wheels, and it is available on the top spec petrol TIGOR. The diesel variant comes in 14-inch alloy wheels, and it is also available on the top end. The Tata TIGOR comes with headlamps cluster with projector low beams and a halogen high beam setup & LED tail lamps with a high mounted LED third brake lights up end-to-end to the rear windscreen. A roof mounted spoiler that envelops this high mounted third brake lamp also adds the great design. The TIGOR comes with a boot space of 419 litre which is 177-litres more when compared to tata TIAGO. For your information, the Tata has also developed a cleaver four-link opening mechanism for the boot lid which allows for a larger aperture, making it easier to store large suitcase.
When compared with Tata Tiago, the Tata TIGOR has longer wheelbase and similar interior layout The Tata TIGOR also gets a Harman-developed, touchscreen infotainment system and the top end variant of Tata TIGOR gets automatic climate control & rear-view camera.
As said above, the Tata TIGOR comes in both petrol and diesel engine. The petrol variant of Tata TIGOR has Revotron 1.2-litre, three cylinder engine that churns out 84 bhp of peak power & 114Nm of peak torque. The diesel Tata TIGOR has Revotorq 1.05-litre, three cylinder engine that churns out 69 bhp of peak power & 140Nm of peak torque. Both the cars mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, there is no automatic option yet and comes with multi-drive modes – Eco & City.
At such a price tag, the Tata TIGOR will compete with Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Ford Aspire.
