Japanese car manufacturer Datsun has launched the 1.0-litre engine of the redi-GO in India at a starting price tag of Rs. 3.57 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The Datsun redi-GO comes in five color – Red, White, Silver, Lime & Grey and available in two variants – redi-Go T (O) cost Rs. 3.57 lakhs and redi-Go S cost Rs. 3.72 lakhs (both prices, ex-showroom Pan India). The update comes after a year since the redi-GO 800 was launched and both the variants will be sold at the flagship models in the redi-GO lineup.
In terms of design and styling, the Datsun has not fiddled with it and remains exactly identical to its less-powerful sibling. The styling is based on Datsun’s Yukan theme which means brave & bold in Japanese and comes with same halogen headlamps & bumper-mounted LED daytime running lights. The only difference between the regular redi-GO and the 1.0-litre redi-GO is that there is a “1.0” badge at the rear.
Talking about interiors, the Datsun redi-GO 1.0L comes with all-black interior with red accents on the seats, new premium fabric upholstery, silver finish on the AC vents and the horn pad.
The Datsun redi-GO 1.0 litre measures 3,429mm in length, 1,560mm in width and 1,541 mm in height. The ground clearance is 185mm, greater than Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 (160mm), Hyundai EON (170mm), and Renault Kwid (180mm). The Datsun redi-GO 1.0 litre has 222-litre of boot space.
The engine used in the Datsun redi-Go 1.0-litre is the same 999cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine and Datsun call it i-SAT (Intelligent Spark Automated Technology). The engine produces 68PS of power and 91NM of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and Datsun claims an ARAI-certified fuel-efficiency of 22.5kmpl. As of now, thee is no option of AMT gearbox on the redi-GO.
The Datsun redi-GO 1.0 L comes with features like remote key, USB/AUX-in connectivity and speed sensitive electric power steering and misses out features like touchscreen, infotainment system, Bluetooth.
In terms of safety, the Datsun redi-GO 1.0L S variant equipped with driver-side airbag only. The T (O) variant misses on the DRLs while it comes as standard on the S variant.
At such a price tag, the Datsun redi-GO 1.0L will compete with Renault Kwid 1.0L, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, and Hyundai Eon 1.0-litre.
