Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles UK has announced a new global partnership to jointly develop mid-capacity motorcycles. The mid-capacity motorcycles will be marketed across the world and in a joint statement, Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles said that the objective of the Bajaj-Triumph alliance is to “deliver a range of outstanding mid-capacity motorcycles benefitting from the collective strengths of both companies.” For your information, the Bajaj Auto currently has products ranging from small motorcycles like Platina and the Discover as well as premium motorcycles like the Pulsar and the Dominar. Triumph sells a range of motorcycles above 700 cc from the classic-styled Bonnevilles, the sport-naked Street and Speed Triples to big cruisers like the Thunderbird Storm and the Rocket III.
“We hope to bring to bear upon global markets the individual strengths of the partners including brand position and perception, design and development technology, quality and cost competitiveness and worldwide distribution,” the joint statement said.
The Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles tie up is a no-equity alliance and Bajaj Auto will develop motorcycles in the 300-600cc segment and it will branded as Triumph. The new global partnership will enable Triumph to expand its global reach and helps them to enter into higher volume market segment. The bikes developed from this partnership will be priced competitively and it will target emerging markets like Asia, South East Asia and Africa.
