In an event in New Delhi, Lexus India has launched the company’s flagship product – Lexus LS 500h in India at a starting price tag of Rs. 1.77 crore. The Lexus LS 500h goes on sale in India via Lexus dealerships based in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru. The Lexus LS 500h comes in three trims – Lexus LS 500h Luxury trim cost Rs 1.77 crore, Lexus LS 500h Ultra Luxury trim cost Rs. 1.82 crore while the Lexus LS 500h Distinct trim cost Rs 1.94 crore (all prices, ex-showroom, pan-India), and it will be available only with a hybrid powertrain in India. Originally, it was introduced at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show in January 2016, and it is the fourth hybrid car in India. According to company claims, more cars will be coming soon. At such a price tag, the Lexus 500h will compete with Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the BMW 7 Series, the Jaguar XJ L, and the upcoming A8 L.
The Lexus LS 500h is built on the company’s all-new global architecture of luxury vehicles and it combines the luxurious features of a top of the line sedan in this category. The company has not left any stone unturned to make the LS 500h stand out and it comes with 28-way adjustable electric front seats with heating, cooling & massage functions, the rear seats have 48-degree recline function and adaptive variable air suspension system with dynamic damping. The other features are 23-speaker, 2,400-watt Mark Levinson sound system with speakers that are integrated into the roof, a four-zone climate control system, triple-barrel LED headlamps with tick-mark-like DRLs at the front, a coupe-like roof-line at the side and wraparound split tail lamps which flank a trapezoidal number plate housing at the back. Apart from this, the Lexus LS 500h is the only car in its segment that gets the 24-inch head-up display and offers more information & better details to the driver.
The Lexus LS 500h is powered by a combination of a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and two electric motors that churn out a combined output of 359PS. The power is transmitted via an eCVT gearbox that feeds the power either to a rear-wheel drive system or Lexus new-age E Four electric all-wheel-drive system. According to company claims, the fuel-efficiency is 15.38kmpl and it reaches 0-100kmph in just 5.4 seconds.
