Hyundai has launched the company’s latest hatchback car – Grand i10 NIOS in India at a starting price tag of ₹ 4.99 Lakh for the base petrol variant while the base variant of diesel starts at ₹ 6.79 Lakh and the top-end variant cost ₹ 7.52 Lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi and the Grand i10 NIOS is the third generation of the i10 hatchback and it will co-exist with the current model. The bookings of Grand i10 NIOS is already started at all Hyundai dealerships and on official digital platforms and you can prebook by paying Rs. 11,000. The company is also offering a variable basic warranty with the option of 3 years/1 lakh km or 4 years/50,000 km or 5 years/40,000 km. At such a price tag, the Hyundai i10 NIOS will compete with Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo, and the Volkswagen Polo.

The name “NIOS” means “more” and according to the company, the design is inspired by Indian architecture and nature. Additionally, the Grand i10 NIOS comes with novel design, new interiors and a whole slew of kit. The hatchback available in two engine option across a total of 10 variants (Seven petrol variants and three diesel variants) in 8 colour options and there are four trims – Era, Magna, Sportz, and top-of-the-line Asta. The Grand i10 NIOS available in 6 colour options – Polar White, Typhoon Silver, TItan Grey, Fiery Red, Alpha Blue, Auqa Tel and there are two dual-tone options available – Polar White/Black and Aqua Teal/Black, both get a black roof.

On the front, the bonnet gets multiple creases for a bold look and the front is dominated by a sharper & wider cascading grille with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs positioned on either side. The fog lamps have a triangular housing and the profile sees a floating roof. Other changes include projector headlamps, new bumpers, a new set of 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, redesigned hood, revised taillamps, rising window ling along with chrome door handles and rear-end. The NIOS is 3805mm long, 1680mm wide, 1520mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2450mm.

On the inside, the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS gets an overhaul and wears a premium look. The space is finished in a dual-tone grey theme and the C-shaped door trim and dash inserts reiterate this. The dashboard gets a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple Carplay connectivity. Other features are semi-digital instrument cluster, rear-view camera, wireless charging, cruise control, and automatic climate control system. The steering and the AC vents have been borrowed from the recently launched Hyundai Venue. The hatchback comes with an Arkamys sound system on the top-end variants.

The Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS maintains the tall-boy styling and the boot space is rated at 260 litres while it comes with a fuel tank capacity of 37 litres.

In terms of performance, the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS continue to use the 1.2-litre CRDi petrol and diesel engine. The BS6-compliant 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine churns out a maximum power of 83bhp and produces a peak torque of 114Nm while the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder diesel engine churns out a maximum power of 74bhp and produces a peak torque of 190Nm. The petrol and diesel engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT. The petrol engine with the manual transmission returns a fuel economy figure of 20.7 kmpl while the AMT returns 20.2 kmpl. The diesel engine on the other hand for both the diesel manual and automatic is 26.2 kmpl and 28.4 kmpl respectively.

In terms of safety, the Hyundai Grand iOS NIOS gets standard features like ABS with EBD, Dual airbags, rear parking sensors, driver and passenger seatbelt reminder, and speed alert system. The top-end variants come with safety features like rearview camera, headlamp escort system, speed-sensing door lock, and impact sensing door unlocks. The car uses 65 percent of advanced high strength steel (AHSS) in its construction.
