Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched the sportier variant of Fortuner – Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo in India at a price tag of Rs. 31.01 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo comes in Pearl White color and the bookings already started at all Toyota dealerships across India, and the vehicle is on display at select Toyota dealerships in Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Lucknow. Apart from this, the Toyota TRD Sportivo is already available in the international markets including Indonesia and Thailand. At such a price tag, the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo will compete with Isuzu MU-X, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V, Mitsubishi Pajero, and Volkswagen Tiguan.
The Fortuner TRD Sportivo is designed & developed by Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and it comes with series of cosmetic changes. It replaces the chrome trim on the exterior of the standard Toyota Fortuner with blacked-out details, gets new-design alloy wheels, and a black interior to offer a more sporty, rugged look. The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo Edition powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine from the standard Toyota Fortuner and it will be only offered in 4×2 AT option.
On the outside, the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo features a sporty body kit and the kit extends to front & rear bumper. On the front, the car gets a new TRD radiator grill with a lower grill cover while on the side, the TRD variant gets 18-inch TRD alloys with exterior accents on the doors. It also gets a “TRD Sportivo” badge on the tailgate.
On the inside, the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo shares its features with the standard variant and comes with 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, park assist with back monitor & sensors, and automatic climate control. It also gets features like Auto Bi-beam LED with DRLs, LED fog lamps and smart entry with push-button start. Apart from this, the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo comes with a black cabin with black upholstery, new floor mats sporting “TRD” lettering.
On the safety side, the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo comes with 7 SRS airbags, 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS, and brake assist. It also gets features like Vehicle Stability (VSC) and hill-start assist control (HAC).
The Fortuner TRD Sportivo variant is powered by the same engine that was seen on the standard variant. It is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces 177PS of peak power and churns out 480Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to the 6-speed automatic transmission with sequential and paddle shifters. The Fortuner TRD Sportivo comes with active traction control and two driving modes – Eco and Power.
