Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced they received more than 7,000 bookings of 2017 Hyundai Verna since its launch on August 22nd, 2017. Apart from this the carmaker has received over 70,000 inquiries and plans to deliver 10,000 units by Diwali. If you can recall, Hyundai India has launched the new-gen 2017 Verna in India at an initial price tag of Rs. 7.99 lakh for the base E variant and top-of-the-line SX (O) AT model cost Rs. 12.23 lakh. All these prices of next-gen Verna are introductory prices and will be applicable only for the first 20,000 customers, and after that, the price of the car will go up. At such a price tag, the all new 2017 Verna will compete with Maruti Suzuki Ciaz that is priced Rs. 7.65 lakh to Rs. 11.44 lakh while the Honda City priced at Rs. 8.46 lakh to Rs. 13.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new-generation Hyundai Verna is built on all new K2 platform and it used the company’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. The car comes with a number of features like company’s signature cascading grille, swept-back headlamps with projector headlights, horizontally placed L-shaped LED DRLs and projector fog lamps, slide-swept taillights with triple-lamp stop lights, 16-inch diamond cut alloys and more. The car comes with standard safety features across all trims like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, central locking, seat belt pre-tensioner for driver and passenger, and ISOFIX child seat mounts among others.
The next-gen Verna comes with the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine. The 1.6-litre petrol engine churns out 121 bhp and 151Nm of peak torque while the diesel engine churns out 126 bhp and 260Nm of peak torque. Both engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic torque converter unit.
