Volvo, the Swedish carmaker has unveiled the new car in XC line-up all-new XC40. It will go on sale in the International markets later this year or early 2018. In India, there is no official confirmation from Volvo India and it is expected that it will be launched in first half of 2018. In the International markets, the Volvo XC40 will compete with Audi Q3, BMW X1, Mercedes Benz GLA, Mini Countryman while in India it will compete with Honda CR-V and Hyundai Santa FE. For your information, the all-new XC40 is the smallest and the most affordable XC model and it sits below the new-gen Volvo XC60.
The all-new Volvo XC40 shares a number of styling cues & features from its older siblings and it is based on a completely different platform than its elder cousins. For your information, the Volvo XC90 and XC60 based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architect (SPA) platform while the all-new Volvo XC40 is built on company’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, and also with its Chinese parent company Geely.
The all-new Volvo XC40 you get 5-seater clutter-free cabin, touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard, three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, comfortable upholstery wrapped in premium leather and more. The centre console will feature a smartphone holder, a trash bin, compartment for tissues while the car’s door pockets designed in such a way that they can even hold an average size laptop, tablet, and a couple of bottles. Apart from this, the company has also moved speakers from the door and developing a world-first, air-ventilated dashboard-mounted subwoofer.
The all-new Volvo XC40 comes with safety features like pilot assist system, city-safety, cross traffic alert with brake support, run-off road protection & mitigation, and the 360-degree camera that helps rivers manoeuvre their car into tight parking spaces.
The all-new Volvo SC40 is powered by D4 diesel or T5 petrol 2-litre four-cylinder Drive-E powertrain. The company also said that the hybridised & pure electric version will be added later. The all-new XC40 will also be the first car that will also available with new 1.5 3-cylinder engine.
