Tata Motors has launched company’s first sub-4m SUV – Tata Nexon in India at a starting price tag of Rs. 5.85 lakh going up to Rs. 8.60 lakh for the petrol, and Rs. 6.85 lakh up to Rs. 9.45 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi) on the diesel-powered versions respectively. The car comes in five colors – Moroccan Blue, Vermont Red, Seattle Silver, Glasgow Grey, Calgary White, and it comes in four trims – XE, XM, XT, & XZ+. The company is also offering a dual-tone option on the XZ+ trim and it comes with a gloss black finished roof. The bookings of the car already started across all Tata Motors showrooms and the deliveries will start from mid-October. The Tata Nexon is manufactured at the Ranjangaon plant, near Pune and at such a price tag, Tata Nexon will compete with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Mahindra TUV300, and Honda WR-V.
The Tata Nexon is the fourth product that is built on the impact design philosophy and the car has a dynamic & sporty design. The headlight units feature projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED taillamps, and white accents around the car.
On the outside, the car features muscular bulges while on the back it has a hatchback-like look. The Tata Nexon has a ground clearance of 209mm and has 16-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the car, you get Harman-powered ConnectNext infotainment system with a 6.5-inch floating touchscreen with the brand new interface, Android Auto & Apple Car Play support, automatic climate control, and steering-mounted controls for audio & calls. The plastics on the dashboard has good quality and comes with a two-tone finish. In addition to this, the central console that surrounds the audio and the climate control knobs have glossy black finished. The Nexon comes with height adjustment for both the steering wheel and the driver’s seat. In addition to this, you get a pair of individual adjustable rear AC vents, flip down central console with high mounted 12-volt charging port to add the convenience in the rear seat.
In terms of safety, the Tata Nexon comes with dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and anti-lock brakes with EBD right from the base variant, while the higher variants come with Park Assist with camera & sensors, day/night IRVM, fog lamps and a rear defogger. The Tata Nexon has boot space of 350L and it can be expanded further up to 690L with 100% rear cushion flip & flat-fold rear seats.
The Tata Nexon is powered by all-new 1.5-litre four-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine that produces 110PS of power & churns out 260Nm of peak torque at 1500-2750 rpm while the all-new 1.2-litre four blunder turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that produces 110PS of peak power at 5,000 rpm & churns out 170Nm of peak torque at 2,000 – 4,000 rpm. Both the engines are mated with 6-speed manual gearbox and for your information, the engines manufactured at Tata’s Sanand facility. The Tata Nexon is the first in a segment that comes with multiple driving modes like City, Eco, and Smart.
