Ducati India has launched the new bikes in its line-up – Ducati SuperSport and Ducati SueprSport S in India at a price tag of Rs. 12.08 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs. 13.39 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. Both the bikes available in Ducati Red color and the company already started accepting bookings for the new bike while the deliveries will begin from today. The Ducati SuperSport S variant will also get the Star White Silk color option and it will be available from November 2017. The Ducati SuperSport S in Start White Silk color cost Rs. 13.60 lakh (ex-showroom). At such a price tag, the Ducati SuperSport will compete with Suzuki GSX-S1000F and Kawasaki Ninja 1000.
In terms of look, the bike takes inspiration from the Ducati 959 Panigale and the ergonomics are slightly different when compared. The bike designed as an everyday street bike that has the capability to take on the track. The bike gets more comfortable riding position than the Panigale when compared and the bike comes with raised clip-on handlebars, slightly rearset footpad for a sporty but comfortable riding posture. The bike comes with features like a redesigned headlight with LED DRLs, a larger saddle, a smaller exhaust muffler, all-digital LCD display which houses a plethora of information, and large windscreen to safeguard the rider from wind blast & it is adjustable. The only difference in Ducati SuperSport and Ducati SuperSport S is in the suspension systems, the S variant gets a standard bi-directional quick shifter.
Powertrains on both the bikes are identical and both are powered by the same engine that performs the duty in Multistrada 950, and the Hypermotard 939, the 937cc 11 L-twin liquid-cooled engine that produces 110PS of peak power at 9500rpm and churns out 95Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission.
The Ducati SuperSport S gets better equipment when compared to standard Ducati SuperSport. The SuperSport S comes with Ducati’s Quick Shift mechanism and gets fully adjustable 48mm Ohlins suspension unit on both ends while the standard SuperSport uses 43mm Marzocchi upside-down forks and a Sachs monoshock on the rear side. In addition to this, the Ducati SuperSport S also gets rear cowl and bi-direction quick shifter. The braking on both the bikes done by twin 320mm dual discs on front and a single 245mm disc on the rear and ABS is standard.
The bike comes with features like 3-level ABS unit, 8-level traction control system, ride-by-wire, and three riding modes – Urban, Sport, Touring. The Urban mode restricts power to 75bhp when you are diving in city while the Sport and Touring mode offer full range with different throttle response.
