Hyundai India has launched the four-wheel drive version of Tucson SUV in India at a starting price tag of Rs. 25.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bookings for the 4WD already started across all dealerships in India. The 4WD variant is available only in top-end GLS automatic trim with diesel engine while the 2WD top-end GLS variant has been discontinued. For your information, besides the addition of the 4WD, there are no changes in the top-end GLS variant of Hyundai Tucson be it inside, outside or under the bonnet. At such a price tag, the Hyundai Tucson will compete with Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Honda CR-V.
The four-wheel-drive system on the Hyundai Tucson is an “On-Demand” one which means that it automatically redistributes power to the rear wheels when there is a need and it can be assessed by nature of the terrain & traction control on the rear wheels. According to the company, the addition of 4WD system results in less wear and tear of mechanical parts. The system comes with a 4WD Lock mode and it can be activated by the driver resulting in 50:50 distribution of torque between the front and rear wheels. In addition to this, the company also offering Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC) that transfer the maximum amount of torque to the wheel having the most traction.
On the safety side, the four-wheel-drive Tucson comes with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill Assist Control (HAC), Down Hill Brake Control (DBC), and brake assist.
The four-wheel-drive Hyundai Tucson is powered by 4-cylinder 1995cc turbo engine that produces 185PS of peak power and churns out 400Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic.
