Earlier this year at Auto Expo-2018, Hyundai Elite i20 received a facelift and now the company has officially launched the CVT automatic variant of the premium hatchback at a starting price tag of ₹ 7.04 lakh. The new i20 CVT automatic version of the popular hatchback cost ₹ 1.00 lakh over the manual version and it will be available in two variants – Magna and Asta. The Magna CVT automatic version cost ₹ 7.04 lakh while the Asta CVT automatic version cost ₹ 8.16 lakh. The bookings already opened earlier this month at dealerships while the deliveries will begin towards the end of this month. At such a price tag, the new 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 CVT will compete with Maruti Suzuki Baleno CVT and Honda Jazz CVT. The Baleno CVT cost ₹ 7.09 lakh for the Delta variant, ₹ 7.70 lakh for the Zeta variant, and ₹ 8.40 lakh for the Alpha variant. On the other hand, the Honda Jazz CVT offered in two variants – S CVT cost ₹ 7.70 lakh while the V CVT cost ₹ 8.46 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Pan India).
The new 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 petrol CVT replaces the older 1.4-litre engine mated to the 4-speed torque converter, and the latter has also received a price cut with the new version. The new i20 Hyundai Elite i20 petrol CVT variant comes with all the bells and whistles that you get on the manual version of Elite i20.
The new 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 CVT (continuously variable transmission) is powered by 1.2-litre 4-cylinder, petrol engine produces a maximum power of 83PS @ 6,000 rpm and churns out a peak torque of 115Nm @ 4,000 rpm. The CVT automatic gearbox offers seamless torque transmission to the front wheels of the car, and the automaker promises a convenient drive with the automatic variant, without any gearshift jerks.
In terms of styling & the interior, the new 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 CVT automatic variant is based on the Elite i20 facelift, which means that the Magna and Asta CVT variants are identical to the Magna and Asta MT grades and offer more or less same features & equipment. The new Hyundai Elite i20 automatic comes with dual-tone interiors, new cascading front grille flanked by halogen headlamps at the front, revised bumper, new tail lamp cluster at the rear. The i20 Asta trim comes with features like fog lamps, rear parking sensors, rearview camera, and 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
On the inside, the new 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 CVT automatic gets the same features as that of the Elite i20 manual variants received through the facelift. The new 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 CVT comes with features like cooled glove box, luggage lamp, sunglass holder, reverse parking camera with sensors, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, tilt-telescopic steering, height adjustable driver’s seat, and new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink connectivity and navigation, rear armrest with cup holders, Arkamys premium sound system with more.
On the safety side, the new 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 CVT gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, Impact Sensing Auto Door, Power Windows, as standard on both trims.
