Let me start with this, the 24-hour endurance drive is a test of endurance, skill, and patience of drivers, cars and pit crew.
The Overdrive team along with JK Tyre and Mobil1 working closely for 24-hour endurance drive and during this endurance drive they not only set speed records but also to showcase the efficiency and the durability of JK Tyres at Buddha International Circuit. For your information, the Buddha Internation circuit is a world-class F1 circuit and an ideal place to attempt a run never tried before in India. The track is 5.1Km long with 16 hard corners. This track is one of the most challenging tracks due to elevations & corners. The variables of the track also change due to outside weather conditions & make the run more challenging.
To carry out the 24-hour endurance ride there are a number of challenges like lights that need to be set up properly and extra lighting needed to support vision during the night were set up for running two cars non-stop for 24 hours. The extra lighting helps drivers to drive the car during night without any issues, and drivers have to ensure that they won’t push Mercedes Benz cars beyond their limits, and consumables like tyres, brakes, and oil will be in sufficient quantity, making sure that the time won’t be wasted while changing tyres, and other things.
The participating vehicles, Mercedes Benz were passenger car and there are no modifications made except safety fitments such as an emergency engine kill switch, auxiliary driving lamps and a fire extinguisher. During this 24-hour endurance drive, the cars were being run on JK Tyre’s UX1 High-Performance tyres, the regular stock tyres that are available at tyre dealers were put to test. The tyres are designed with an asymmetric thread pattern and 4th generation polymers that helps in high-speed stability and tyres that last longer. With the UX1 tyre series, JK Tyre continued to deliver their promise of total control along with high performance on these pristine sedans.
As mentioned above, the venue for 24-hour endurance drive is Buddha International Circuit, Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh) and the race will start at 5:00 P.M. (GMT) on Saturday (September 22nd) that runs till 5:00 P.M. (GMT) till next day (September 23rd). During this 24 hour endurance drive, the professional drivers appreciation towards the tyres is a testimony to the fact that UX1 high-performance tyres did an excellent job by withstanding their grounds during high speeds, high temperatures, rain showers etc. & still providing excellent gripping, handling, cornering, braking stability which enabled the drivers to complete the enduring run. There were few stops during this 24-hour endurance drive and it includes refuelling, replacing tyres that are burned to the thinnest fabric.
Once the drive ended, the JK tyres announced that they have set a stupendous record during 24-hour endurance drive where Mercedes-Benz cars driving non-stop at high-speeds on the 5 km long BIC high-speed test track. During this record, the Mercedes Benz cars fitted with JK Tyres showcased their #UnleashPerformance and achieved record-breaking distances of 2200km with an average speed of around 91 km, including all stops for fuel, tyre change, and service. The 2200km is touted as the most amount of distance covered in an F1 track in India till date.
The Pit Stop crew is amazing and it’s a delight to watch them. They replaced the old wheels with a newer one in minimal time and everything was adjusted in record-breaking time. The Pit Stop crew is managed by a team of engineers and technicians from Mercedes India, and assisted by teams of JK Tyres/J K Motorsports, and Mobil1.
